This was a movie I had planned to see earlier this year on the big screen, along with Laws of Attraction (Julianne Moore and Val Kilmer fan, what can I say?). While certainly better than the latter, I’m still glad I didn’t bother in the end. This movie is way too much like Boogie Nights and Blow and other movies I can’t think of right now. It’s pretty well made as you’d expect, with great performances and production design – but why have this when you could have a Boogie Nights / The Doors double-bill and have it all?

Not one I’m likely to watch again soon.
