Wicked Little Things

Wicked Little Things 3 star

It’s sort of astounding how much dead air there is in this one to start with, and though ultimately it becomes clear that it’s an attempt to build tension etc, it’s still just a little too much. Darkness (though for the record I still can barely remember it) and The Messengers come to mind but in the end this one is better than either of those really for just two scenes – a sequence midway involving a car in the woods which is really where the sh*t finally starts to hit the fan; and the finale, which is genuinely quite terrifying – as well as some really nice foggy woodland shots. For a movie that seems to have been made on a relatively low budget and really come out of nowhere, not to mention pretty much going straight to DVD, it has a lot more to recommend it than a lot of recent horror releases and is definitely worth a look for horror fans, even if the first hour is painfully slow.
