Casper. I hate when people just launch into the "you're wrong" thing, and I never do it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and you had some very valid points, as many people do. You don't always have to agree on everything because we all have our own mind... but you can have a polite discussion about why you differ. Which I think we kind of did. :)

I always tend to write "stream of consciousness" stuff too. I believe it is truer, and when you censor, that truth is lost.

I recognised your "babbling" anyway, LOL. I think I knew where you were coming from. It was just your mentioning of Bono, and I always get defensive where he is concerned! That's just my thing, LOL.... and I was not offended because you didn't rail against him like so many people do. We won't go there... it gets boring!!! LOL

Funny but the Kylie thing was very much on my mind, which was why I picked up on this post.

And for the record, I know you didn't mean the film should be about her cancer struggle necessarily. I was just musing and throwing that view out there. I *do* see your point, but I guess we have to respect her decision that it was not dwelt upon.

A great film nevertheless, and thank you for posting about it originally. It was a great post!

:) hi, I don't wanna babble too much further than I already have on this but I just wanted to say thanks for not just being like, "you're wrong!" like so many people are when they disagree with me in comments. I was actually really scared to post this review 'cos it completely got away from me, it's the longest thing I've written in ages, and I knew there was even still a lot more I wanted to say (like the Kylie quote says, "So much to say and I don't know how to say it!" but sometimes you just gotta try). A lot of the things you say ran through my head as I was writing it, and I really got into such a tangle in the end I had to force myself to post what I had, which was basically my stream of thoughts while watching, which is how I like to write 'cos I hate censoring myself.

One thing I'll clarify is, if I came over as sounding like I thought the film _should_ have been about her cancer fight, I really didn't mean to. I really just found it bizarre that such a major issue wasn't at the centre of such a hyped documentary, and that Kylie herself appeared to be so unaltered by such a nightmare, like, "Okay, I've conquered cancer: now, where was I?"

Interesting post. I just put a post about White Diamond on my Blog. I am a big U2 fan, and thought Bono's appearance in the show was wonderful. You have to look on it in the spirit it was meant. He is a friend of Kylie's, and it was obvious from her excitement just before his appearance that she thinks a lot of him. He simply took time out to support a friend. And I know he makes people's hackles rise sometimes, but I really don't know why. He plays with celebrity, sure, no question. He mocks himself a lot of the time, and I see his "nervousness" and self-consciousness sometimes in the way he acts the goat. But in essence he is a good man, who is using his position to great effect.

As for your questions about Kylie and the sentiment behind the show.... why should it have been about her cancer fight? She is, first and foremost, a performer, and this film was about her coming back to that. It is probably - quite understandably - very painful and scary for her to focus on that terrible time.

Whatever dream she is living, it is her dream. And she obviously made a lot of people happy with her shows.
