Like Cold Mountain, I had no real desire to see The Last Samurai I thought it looked barmy. I thought it was Dances With Wolves… in China! Well, it is… partly. But this feeling completely vanishes as the movie becomes its own and comes closer to its beautiful ending. This is a movie about honour, a movie honouring honour I think. By no means perfect, a little long, but certainly worthy of all the Oscar nominations.
