It should be known, for anyone who might actually want to use my reviews as video store recommendations, that I absolutely love Cameron Crowe (note Almost Famous as my number one movie of all time and Vanilla Sky in my top 100). So bare that in mind when I say this movie is fairly average. It has moments, but nothing that can’t be found in Crowe’s other movies and better. On the DVD, in fact, are the two best scenes (not) in the movie, deleted – magazine covers start to “talk” to one of the main characters, and one of the main characters has a “French movie” fantasy… really clever scenes but Crowe clearly didn’t have the power he has now to include them back then… they’re pretty out there, lol.

The ending is nice… “Bless you,” and also the way all the voices swell up on the soundtrack to prove everyone wrong who feels alone in life. Writing about it now I realise that maybe the movie will grow on me in future viewings. Not a patch on Crowe’s recent work though.
