Silkwood

I wanted to see this movie for years after they played a short clip of it at the 1995 Oscars after Christopher Reeve had been wheeled on to talk about the power of cinema etc. It looked awesome.

Meryl Streep is, of course, wonderful. More than the thrilling, Midnight Express type nightmare I thought I was in for (the scene where the radiation alert goes off is, however, just as heartstopping as that classic airport scene), this movie turns more into a cross between Erin Brockovich and the distressing animation, When the Wind Blows. Not very pleasant.
