I can’t say what’s missing in this remake that was present in the original, because I’ve only seen the original once and I don’t remember much of it. But I do know that I kinda loved the original, and I have no feelings whatsoever for this remake. It’s ridiculously TV-ish, monotonous, and takes itself far too seriously (and this is 3 years prior to 9/11 … it’s almost quaint in a sad way). I thought with Richard Schiff and Lorraine Bracco not to mention the source material, this might’ve been worth a look. I kinda wish I’d never heard of it.
