The Silence
Funnily enough, this Ingmar Bergman movie’s defining feature is its silence. There’s barely any dialogue at all, which could make it a prime candidate for a first taste for some wishing to tip-toe into Bergman’s work. But though it has some fantastic photography which frankly had me mesmerised in the opening scenes, I tuned out towards the end. I think I finally understood the point of the letter left to the young boy by the ‘educated’ sister, but I’m going to have to watch this one again to fully fathom it.
