This is exactly my kind of movie, and I watched it at exactly the right time. I expected great performances from Julianne Moore and Kevin Spacey, of course, and they’re fantastic, but it was Judi Dench who truly wowed me here. The movie kind of reminds me of the extreme emotion of a Brontë novel, and also a little of last year’s The Ballad of Jack and Rose – but it also has moments of comedy ranging from the surprising to the damn near ridiculous. One I’ll watch again for certain.
