Wow, this one wants to be The Exorcist (not to mention a few other classics) – faith versus science and all – pretty bad, lol, right down to the Friedkin-ish montages. It goes without saying, it doesn’t even come close – it’s very predictable, almost dull stuff on the whole – but in the end, I found it a lot better than people have been saying. Though AnnaSophia Robb hardly speaks a word, she’s not as underused as I initially feared and her presence is really effective in conjuring a frightening atmosphere. It’s quite beautifully shot and the visuals for all the plagues are all impressively seamless. Solid background viewing really and I’ll probably watch it again.
