If you do choose to read the novel and find yourself with the anniversary edition that has an introduction by the screenwriter, DO NOT read the introduction. The guy was so annoying, whining about what the original author’s estate wouldn’t let him do, that I was completely turned off and returned the book to the library without even reading the novel proper.
