The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz

The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz 3 star

According to moi ... number one: the muppets are always funny; number two: you can’t break “The Wizard of Oz”, no matter what you do to it, it’s too perfect a story, too enchanting a world. So this movie really couldn’t fail for me.

Ashanti isn’t a very good actress, and the movie has its ridiculously corny points. It’s also nowhere near as good as The Muppet Christmas Carol, the only other Muppets movie I definitely know I’ve seen, nor does it have as many cool celebrity cameos as, say, Muppets Take Manhattan (Tarantino’s cameo here is particularly contrived; Kelly Osbourne’s is funnier; that’s about all there is). But if you’re anything like me, you’ll struggle to suppress a giggle when your favourites appear onscreen, and it ultimately has a great message at the end (although on the way, it does become a little misguided).
