Eek. This was honest-to-god one of my all-time favourites, if not The One, back in 1998 when I first saw it. I guess those were pre-Tarzan, pre-a-lot-of-things, days. But once upon a time I definitely recall watching this and finding every second mesmerizing. Now I find there’s a lot of dead air here. It’s a lot better than a lot of blockbusters, that’s for sure, in particular I love the amount of emotion that comes to the fore towards the end – the stable scene between Hopkins and Jones still moves me like it did 7 years ago.

I really can’t wait for the sequel, maybe I’ll once again be swept away like the first time with this one. The same director, cast, composer, everything I loved about this one are involved for the sequel, it could easily be the surprise great movie of 2005, I think, I’m personally kind of astonished by how little I’ve heard about it at this stage.
