The Eye [2002]

The Eye [2002] 5 star

Unfortunately this review’s going to be on the short side since I have so much to catch up on at the moment. This movie has elements of The Sixth Sense to it, and ends with a mindblowing catastrophe worthy of Final Destination. It’s one of the more moving of the flood of horror movies that have been coming from Asia recently, and for that reason it’s easily my favourite so far. A remake is (unsurprisingly) apparently in the works for 2006: even though this original version is perfect as it is, I can’t wait to see the effects etc pumped up American style.

[...] Oops. I really wanted to see this ‘cos Jodelle Ferland’s in it and not only is she not in it much, she actually plays a boy, lol. Weird. She’s still cute anyway. Anyway. The movie’s directed by the Pang Brothers, and I loved The Eye, plus it also stars Kristen Stewart who was good in Panic Room and Catch That Kid. All’s not lost. Except this movie has been done dozens of times before. In particular, it reminded me of the Anna Paquin movie Darkness – I think. [...]
