The Curse of the Werewolf
My goodness does this one take its time to get going … especially considering it’s only 90 minutes long to start with. Yet I’ve got to say, I think that’s my only big criticism. Somehow, the slow build works. It’s kind of like The Omen, I guess. Like most Hammer Horror movies, it’s not particularly gory, but at least it’s not soft porn like a lot of them either. It won’t make any of my Halloween marathons but it’s no disaster. Great casting of the boy playing young Leon, too – he’s not the greatest little actor, but the resemblance to Oliver Reed is almost uncanny. The highlight of the whole thing, though, could be the brief appearance of Wallace – I mean, Peter Sallis – with a big handle-bar mustache.
