I can’t really say this movie was a disappointment, since I didn’t really like Pitch Black enough to be particularly excited for its sequel. But it was quite a let down. The trailer makes the movie out to be completely different, almost bigger – in terms of story and scope – than it in fact turns out to be. From what I could gather, only the character of Riddick ties this movie to the first movie, and I guess if this series continues it’s just going to be basically just about this guy getting into various space-based situations. I would’ve liked a bit more consistency. Really, this turned out to be a hodge-podge of Star Trek plotlines, and instead of Kirk, Picard or Janeway, our hero is wisecracking xXx. Effects are good though.
