I don’t know quite what to say about this one except that it made me laugh a lot. To me the material doesn’t seem that good that it’s worthy of the cast involved (William H. Macy, Robert Duvall, Cameron Bright, Maria Bello … Katie Holmes is a disaster on sticks though, and that’s from someone who loves the girl) but I hardly ever complain about movies that stick around the 90 minute mark as long as they tug my heartstrings or get at least one big laugh out of me. Part of me kind of wanted Denis Leary in the Aaron Eckhart role and I don’t know if it was just wishful thinking but I think Eckhart is kind of trying to channel him in places … Eckhart does the slightly more emotive stuff better than I imagine Leary would, though, I guess. All in all, not a huge waste of time … I really hope Katie Holmes is better in her next movie though … she is really so bad here it’s not funny.
