Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Terminator 2: Judgment Day 5 star

Wow, I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this yet. This is gonna be short (not least because I’ve lost the draft review twice now, lol). I don’t think I need to convince anyone that they need to see this modern masterpiece. If you’re into movies, you either have already seen it or you know you ought to. It’s one of my all time favourites. It’s as action-packed and scary as the original, but this time James Cameron brings even heavier emotion to the table. Brad Fiedel’s score is accordingly richer. The effects aren’t as jawdropping as they were in 1991, but the ideas behind those effects are far more compelling than anything behind T3: Rise of the Machines, eg. This is easily the best in the trilogy, and one of the few movies I don’t feel uncomfortable in calling one of the best movies of all time. Two lines in the last 5-10 minutes make my point for me – “I know now why you cry: but it’s something I can never do,” and “If a machine – a terminator – can learn the value of human life, maybe we can too.” It’s just beautiful.
