Tequila Sunrise Tequila Sunrise

I guess I should write something about this movie before I forget it entirely. It has the great dialogue of Robert Towne, who wrote Chinatown, but is severely lacking the direction that Roman Polanski gave to that movie. Towne also directed here. Not that it’s all bad though… it has a nice jazzy score by Dave Grusin that best accompanies Michelle Pfeiffer’s typically slinky performance, and a great exchange between her and Mel Gibson where he calls her “Slick” … that is one exchange I would love to emulate in my own writing – it has such a swift, pointed, back-and-forth rhythm that slays me.

For some reason though, I still feel like I’m forever going to confuse this movie both with Red Dawn and The Year of Living Dangerously … don’t ask, I have no idea either. But this, at least, is a record that I have at least seen this movie, despite the possibility it will slip my mind …
