You know, especially following Meet the Robinsons, I couldn’t have wanted to hate this movie more, lol. But I have to admit, it’s a lot more fun than I expected. It’s surprisingly easy to get past the awkward coincidence of yet another animated penguin movie following Happy Feet, the reality style idea is certainly noteworthy, like, anytime anybody tries to do something different with the tired computer animation format it’s gotta be a good thing – the movie is almost worth seeing for the virtual camerawork alone.

I kinda figured this movie would be the “pure entertainment” kind, and mostly it is; but it does have its moments, it does have more than a threadbare plot, and it does have more than a little to say. Mychael Danna’s score, though thin on the ground, is really nice, and Jon Heder as a stoner chicken surfer is just inspired.
