Superbad
Again I feel like maybe I’m becoming numbed by the stupidity – it seems like it would be worse for me to add expended energy whining about this movie to the energy expended viewing it. I said writing about Mischief Night and also in reference to Thirteen that I see no reason for problem teens to be able to see themselves on the cinema screen just like anyone else and I feel like I’d be a hypocrit if I said what I truly think, that this movie really shouldn’t exist, because hey, idiots are human too.
It seems to have become more a case of political decision than judgment on cinematic quality to say whether you like these kind of movies or not recently and I kinda just want to leave it alone but I’ve written a few words about every other movie I’ve seen this year and this won’t be any exception.
If nothing else – let’s face it – at least the immature f*ckwits here are actually meant to be in school. They’re three distinct characters which was a surprise in itself, and there are a handful of laughs along the way. It lives in a realm of wish-fulfilment kind of movie that I thought disappeared with the 80s, and for that alone I guess even I also feel almost compelled to overrate it. But though it’s not entirely evil, it’s certainly nowhere near as good as some people are saying – if you watch less than 50 new movies a year, I’d say certainly give this one a wide berth. But you already knew that.
