Stranger Than Paradise

Though I love how Jim Jarmusch’s movies look, that kinda timeless, muffled black-and-white thing he has going on, I really have a hard time getting along with them – for instance, I truly longed to love Coffee & Cigarrettes but only the Steve Coogan segment gave me a kick, and while I longed to love Dead Man for Johnny Depp’s sake, I can barely recall that movie. This movie left me with the basic sentiment, “there’s no excuse for being boring in a 90 minute movie.” I really believe in that, and though this movie has a neat ending that actually resembles a story point, overall, it’d be better as a short. As has been something of a theme with me recently, though, I’d love to see the whole Jarmusch catalogue a second time to be sure.
