This reminded me at turns of the previous year’s Lucky Number Slevin and Revolver – except, I liked both those movies. Like those movies, this has a less than straightforward plot (if you can call it a plot); unlike those two movies, it gives you no cause to try and follow it. Sure, it’s slick enough and hits the beats, but it feels so damn wannabe, like it’s been written by a 15 year old who’s seen a few clips of a Tarantino movie, it’s almost embarrassing. This movie has a lot of stuff in it that might be interesting … but at no point did I really care to look close enough. It’s marginally rescued by a great shootout at the end – but even that just makes you wish you were watching True Romance or Other.
