Somebody pinch me, lol … two sports’ movies in one night? And yet this one wins me over for entirely different reasons from Rocky, lol. I could actually be a fan of soccer (or football, as it’s known here :P) if it was like this all the time. Though this movie isn’t quite as coherent and slick as director Stephen Chow’s most recent movie Kung Fu Hustle, it’s still some of the most fun you will ever have watching a movie and definitely cements my love of Chow. Again he delivers an incredibly sweet love story (two scenes in particular stick in my mind – the way she looks at all the dresses in the store and the part with her crying into the dough and him tasting it, omg) and the effects, though not entirely transparent, fit the story in a perfectly ridiculous comic way. I can’t wait for Kung Fu Hustle 2 even more now.
