Hmm. This one begins just as well as the original Saw, which wowed me when I first saw it, and I’ll be first in line for Saws III, IV, however many they intend to make. The idea behind this series is one that could really keep on going, like Final Destination it immediately latches onto more modern primal fears. Unfortunately, the ending is a rapidly deteriorating mess. I think they were going for a Usual Suspects style montage (pretty much the whole movie has been a fabrication of sorts); but it’s just boringly, and messily, done. I don’t know, I wasn’t particularly shocked or surprised and I just didn’t care enough about the characters to feel the impact of the revelation. Kinda, South Park blank-faced expression: “Oh. That’s … clever …”
