Revolver

Revolver 4 star

I’d heard this was a bit of a mind-f*ck but I was kind of pleasantly surprised. While watching, yes, it really does need your attention … there’s elements of Vanilla Sky and Angel Heart in here; but the more I think about it since the rather absolute end, the more it makes sense, and the more I want to watch it again. This is a movie that will require many, many further viewings to get the most out of, and I think I’m willing to give it all those viewings. Ray Liotta and Jason Statham are pretty great in the key roles, and this movie reminded me of the things I loved about Guy Ritchie’s other work (aside from Swept Away, which I might be up to watching finally after this). This one may be my favourite. Some people have called this movie pretentious, and I think that’s a real sign of a lack of patience with the movie. I think Ritchie has really tried to do something pretty difficult and maybe important with this movie and to a point he really succeeds. Apologies for the ramble, I’ll hopefully make more sense with each subsequent viewing’s review lol.
