Planet Terror
This didn’t strike me as so different technically from its Grindhouse cut as Death Proof did, but I definitely found myself again more in the mood for it than I was when I saw it in the 3 hour double bill. Indeed, by the time it got to the whole Rose McGowan flying over the wall with her gun-leg and shooting down all the monsters in mid-flight part, I was completely with it and laughing my head off as opposed to the completely unimpressed groan/sigh I let out in the Grindhouse set. It’s definitely a fun movie, and much as I hated the idea at first, splitting the double bill for international distribution and the DVDs was probably about the best movie decision made this year. They just didn’t work that way, but separately it’s a whole other story.
