My Super Ex-Girlfriend
This could and almost definitely will eventually earn itself a place in my alarming silly faves collection, which I must list somewhere around here sometime soon – as a taster though, we’re talking Grease 2, Josie and the Pussycats, Slap Her … She’s French, A Guy Thing ... you get the picture – I think I just did the review of this right there, lol. I mean, this screenplay must’ve been languishing in a corner since the mid-eighties, surely?
The whole thing is cheesy as hell but for me it just flows so perfectly I don’t have time to even think it might be bad. Anna Faris and Wanda Sykes are great (not everyone’s cup of tea, I know but they really really do it for me lol), Uma has enough Kill Bill residue to keep it just a little smart, and this might be the first time I’ve truly warmed to Luke Wilson. Even the score by Teddy “Who?” Castellucci (oh, okay, he did Mr. Deeds too), which really scared me when it kicked in over the opening titles, turns out to be just perfect for the material. I just personally loved it. Just writing this I decided to give it another star on what I was originally gonna give it, lol. I can’t wait for the DVD.
