Mr. And Mrs. Smith [2005]

Mr. And Mrs. Smith [2005] 1 star

Enjoyment of this movie will depend entirely on whether or not you’re even remotely concerned with the old and pointless argument that goes something along the lines of, “I’m better ‘cos I’m a typical boy,” “Well I’m better ‘cos I’m a typical girl,” because there’s almost literally no more to this movie than a couple of flat characters – one assuredly male, one assuredly female, both completely up themselves – trying to kill each other. There’s barely any story to it. Act II is particularly excruciating – would a subplot have killed the film makers?

The obvious recommended alternative here is, of course, True Lies, which I’d personally watch 50 times more readily than another second of this. That movie has actual characters in it, with personalities, and other interesting things like structure, etc. There are even more laughs, thrills, and surprises in the similar first 5 minutes of Spy Kids.
