Miss Congeniality

Miss Congeniality 3 star

This was in my queue of things to watch while my parents were away, my sister having it on video, but I kept putting it off. It was on TV tonight, anyway, kinda forced the issue. I don’t know why I was so hesitant to watch it. I really love Sandra Bullock – 28 Days and Forces of Nature are both all-time faves of mine – but I still get a little skeptical of her work.

I loved this movie up to the point when she finally goes to the pageant thing – the whole introduction of her character, the ‘training’ and ‘makeover’ sequences. Then there was a brief moment when I thought to myself, “crap, it’s conventional from here onwards,” but thankfully it doesn’t go that way. Michael Caine and William Shatner make great supporting appearances and the whole thing is never either dull or dumb as it seems. I’m quite surprised it took them 5 years to come out with a sequel. I hope this means they took they time to at least make something as good as this, if not better.
