Maybe I was in the mood for cheese and Evan Rachel Wood tonight for some reason, lol, but here’s yet another one that in spite of itself worked wonders for me. Though it apparently did receive the proper big screen treatment on its release (albeit limited), this really floats mostly around the TV movie level in terms of cinematic prowess – but it’s still worth mentioning that, overall, this is a huge cut above other movies of its kind. It has some incredibly funny moments and there’s not a bum performance among the many, many children featured nor the adults on the periphery. It bears repeating, Evan Rachel Wood is incredible – I knew she was great in Thirteen and a few things since then, but it looks like she had ‘it’ right from the start – she’s almost wasted in this one, good as I found it to be.
