I came to this expecting the absolute worst – the old thing of how hard it is to stretch a half-hour TV show into the feature format of course always comes to mind with movies like this … in this case, we’re talking a 5 minute fraction of a half-hour show. But I always forget far too easily how much I love Kevin and Perry, and I’ve gotta say, this is easily as good as the original sketches, and at under 80 minutes, you certainly can’t complain that it’s been too over-stretched. Rhys Ifans is fantastic as a Mancunian DJ, there are a few nice cameos, and most importantly, lots of laughs. Sure, some of them fall flat (mainly the gross-out stuff – though I have to say I found the “girls prepare to go out scene” practically mesmerising), but overall, I don’t think I could’ve enjoyed this more.
