I missed the first 10 minutes of this but I still want to write a little something about it ‘cos it honestly got to me more than Walk the Line did. It’s a very basically done documentary, the voiceovers, interviews, the Ken Burns effect, etc, but it gets to the heart of the music in a big way, the people interviewed are people you want to hear from, from Sam Phillips to Kris Kristofferson to Billy Bob Thornton, and the archive footage is unmissible (the first time I’ve ever really listened to “The Man in Black” and colour me a Cash fan). It’s already on a DVD, but if they could include this on the Walk the Line DVD, it’d almost give me reason to buy it.
