I really didn’t expect to enjoy this one. Last year’s very similar Breakin’ All the Rules (in that movie, the expertise is break-ups, in this, getting together) passed the time but wasn’t anything special. When I saw Andy Tennant was directing it struck me as pretty odd – sure, he once directed a really bad Olsen Twins movie, but in the meantime he made Anna and the King and Ever After.

This movie has its moments, though, and never gets too boring. One sequence in particular, at Ellis Island, kinda choked me up thanks to Eva Mendes’ performance.
