Hell Night

Hell Night 3 star

I wasn’t expecting much from this at all, and it’s true the acting is almost hilariously bad in places. In order to get into their respective sororities and fraternities at college, two boys and two girls have to spend a night in a supposedly haunted house. For a while, it’s a little like April Fools Day – some other college kids play pranks on them before the real horror rears its head – and I feared a similarly ridiculous ending to that movie.

Linda Blair is mostly good, and at least nice to look at. The make up and gore isn’t great – when you finally get a good look at the ‘monster’, he kinda looks like some poor kid out on Halloween as Count Olaf from Lemony Snicket. For me the whole thing’s saved by the ending, a really nicely framed shot that ends in a freeze on Blair’s face. I don’t know, I just liked it.
