“Can I ask where your eggs come from?”
“Hen’s vaginas?”
Sue me for crimes against cinema appreciation, but, is it just me or does this movie get better every time I watch it?
“How-how… soi-disant ... uh, oh, waahhhhhhh!!!!!!”
I’m sure I must have noticed this before, but it came as a surprise once again this time around that Adrian Edmondson directed it – his first and only big screen work to date – and at the least you’ve got to give him points for keeping the screen alive. The over-the-top fights were one of the Bottom TV series’ most notorious elements and usually, it’s things like that which transfer awkwardly or disappointingly to celluloid. Here, they have me in stitches even after I’ve seen it dozens of times. You’ve gotta love the cast, too – just how many Shaun of the Dead people are in here, in addition to Fenella Fielding, Vincent Cassel and James D’Arcy?
It gets a little needlessly gruesome in the end (stupid me putting some clam chowder on midway, lol), but overall, this is one that I can watch over and over, just like the TV series – if you don’t like that, then you probably won’t like this.
