Did they really think the Jason series would end so soon? Final Chapter has the best cast of all the Friday movies – Corey Feldman, Crispin Glover… umm… yeh that’s as good as it gets, but you can’t go wrong with Glover.

This is, I suppose, though, a kind of ending for Jason. After Jason’s death at the end of Final Chapter, the series truly abandoned its roots in reality, apart from Part V which merely features a copycat killer. Perhaps the switch to psychic children, ghosts and electric revivals and finally the absurd mythology of Final Friday were a desperate attempt to compete with the fantastical Nightmare on Elm Street series. Though it didn’t look like anything could have saved the series, even as early as Part 3, it’s a shame it took till Freddy Vs. Jason for Jason to become a mostly reality-based monster again.
