This is the part most faint in my mind. Really it’s a bold attempt to make a sequel to The Final Chapter which essentially killed Jason off without resorting to ridiculous mythology, resurrections, or prequels. But it pretty much fails. I imagine, though, had the series continued to try to go this way, it may have finally come across a lot of ideas infinitely better than Jason X.
