Final Destination 2
Though the opening is obviously not as heartstopping as the first installment – part 3’s rollercoaster concept sounds better, but seriously, I don’t see anything, not even the plane-crash sequence in Glamorama, if it ever gets made, topping that sequence for me in the near future – the deaths are just as, if not more, deliciously elaborate, and they come thicker and faster since the set-up is smartly dealt with Dawn of the Dead style in opening television soundbites.
There’s more humour in this installment, and this is something I hope James Wong and Glen Morgan tone down in part 3 – the balance they had between the humour and the horror in the first movie was simply perfect. It’s also significantly cheesier and significantly more idiotic at times. Having said that, the final gag is about the best thing in the movie, lol.
