Enduring Love
Extremely intense thriller, kind of a slightly homosexual Fatal Attraction, though the stalker here is strangely, almost disturbingly symphathetic. My sister tells me the book is a lot better. I imagine it’s certainly very different, since this works so perfectly as a hundred minute thriller movie I can’t for the life of me imagine how it ever worked on the page. I’ll certainly read it in the future. Rhys Ifans is fantastic, as are the other members of the cast – Samantha Morton, Daniel Craig, Bill Nighy and Susan Lynch. Jeremy Sams provides a superb, Bernard Herrmann like score, perhaps the best thing about the movie as far as I’m concerned. Only a slightly awkward scene at the end (wrapping things up just a little too nicely) lets it down, but this is still one of the better British films I’ve seen, as well as one of the better modern thrillers.
