Confetti

Confetti 4 star

Twice in one day? I really didn’t expect to like this – so much so that I kinda smirked at the “A Wasted Talent Production” credit at the beginning. But minute by minute, this movie just gets better and funnier and sweeter, and I actually think it works in such a manner that whether you love or loathe the things it sinks its teeth into (mainly, wedding planning and reality TV), you’ll get just as much of a kick out of it. All the actors and actresses deserve special mention, most of them Britcom staples, but most of all I want to mention the two camp wedding planners and Alison Steadman, who plays Jessica Stevenson’s mother. If you’ve ever watched more than 10 seconds of anything even _approaching reality TV, you’ll have encountered a character like this, totally overdramatic and attention-seeking, and the sister (played equally well observed by Sarah Hadland) isn’t much better. My favourite moment in the movie might be when Martin Freeman finally tells them to shut the f*ck up, lol. Okay, then there’s Robert Webb in the nude, Meredith McNeil taking the mickey out of her own fantastically strange nose, and all the wonderful musical stuff with Stevenson and Freeman.

Would I have one of these weddings, or even go to one? Probably not. But they make a great movie ending – even the tennis one. Yes, I’m as shocked as you are.
