This is an interesting movie, something I’d been told was one of the greatest movies most had ever seen, but for me it was particularly overlong. There’s a whole segment in the middle that could be entirely cut-out, and overall the movie rings hollow to me: a pale imitation of Once Upon a Time in America, really. But it has its moments. I wish it could be half an hour shorter… and that’s saying something since the movie I’ve just compared it to was nearly twice as long. Personally I found the hour long documentary on the DVD, about the real story behind the story, at least a hundred percent more interesting.
