This is one of those strange movies where I was pretty much lost or bored witless for the first hour, with not much happening, fairly hollow, one-dimensional characters – slick and nasty, but pointless, nonetheless – and then in the last half hour I found myself completely hooked as it propelled itself towards its fascinating climax. By the end I was ready to watch it all over again and I’d do so in a heartbeat, to see what I was missing early on.
