I’m almost convinced now that Jamie Foxx will win an Academy Award next year – either supporting for Collateral or lead for Ray (or both…) This movie shows his talents outside of drama, in a comedy that has no right to be so entertaining.

It’s about a guy who is dumped by his girlfriend while doing research on firing people for his pathetic boss (Peter McNiccol, hilarious, if not moreso, as always). After the dumpage, he puts his research to another use – his girlfriend’s dumping technique was abysmal, so he’s going to write a guidebook. The guidebook becomes a hit, and then everybody’s trying to dump everybody, and trying not to be dumped themselves (cue many people saying, “Oh no you di’n’t, I was dumping your ass!”) People who know me know I don’t like these kinds of things. But this one had enough funny moments to keep me interested.
