This movie is even better than I remembered. It bears clear similarity to The Hitcher and The Vanishing (which I’ve seen) and Spielberg’s Duel (which I haven’t) but this is one of those stories you can endlessly re-tell. Kurt Russell and J.T. Walsh are simply magnificent in the two main roles and the snappy editing and script keep you on edge for the full hour and a half (which is absolutely the perfect length for this kind of movie).
