Bowfinger

Bowfinger 5 star

“Do you love Smashing Pumpkins?”
“Are you kidding? I love to do that!”

I’m sure I’ve reviewed this before, as I wrote this one I could remember writing about it before, but I couldn’t find it to update, so sorry if I say things I’ve said before, lol.

“Is your name Keith?”
“No, I’m Kenny – but thanks for asking!”

I love this movie. It cracks me up and brings tears to my eyes. It’s up there with Ed Wood as one of the best movies about movies ever made. Steve Martin is one of the best screenwriters ever.

I seem to always be unable to avoid mentioning awards and Oscars in my reviews at this time of year, and this has to be no exception. People are going on about how Eddie Murphy’s performance in “Dreamgirls” this year is some kind of comeback role, but no, he never went away, you just didn’t see movies like Bowfinger. If the Academy nominated more comedy roles on a regular basis as they did Johnny Depp, say, for Pirates of the Caribbean, Eddie Murphy would’ve, should’ve been up there, for his is such a performance, so funny it brings tears to my eyes in spots. It’s incredible.

This is one of the funniest modern comedies, up there really only with Zoolander for me, nothing since these two movies has made me laugh so hard.
