Blueberry
Yet another movie I am determined to see again. Blueberry takes a lot of concentration but it’s worth it in the end. The way I’d describe it, I guess, would be as a spaghetti Western made by Oliver Stone, but that doesn’t even begin to explain the wackiness here. Once I got into the movie, I found the performances to be great all-round, but they are difficult performances to become accustomed to. Vincent Cassel is an odd hero, and after long time skip, it took me a while to figure out who everyone was again because of make-up etc. Juliette Lewis is her usual slightly-annoying self, but her character overcomes that as the movie progresses. Michael Madsen really surprised me in what’s one of his more unique and more-crucial-to-the-movie roles. I thought he’d excelled himself in Vol. 2 as Budd (for which I’d have him nominated for a Supporting Actor Oscar), but this one is just as good. The movie really needs a second viewing for me to write anymore on it.
