Y’know, from the guy involved in “The X-Files”, the Final Destination series, the Willard remake, I think I expected more than this. The original movie always struck me as one of the more interesting 70s slashers that I’ve yet to see. But this is about as much of a mess as a movie can be, right down to its ridiculous delivery of the backstory, as ill-conceived as the yellow child at its heart; like a parody of the genre only without the laughs. That Lacey Chabert and Michelle Trachtenberg somehow found their way into this, even considering how low their careers had dipped without it, is wholly depressing. I can only hope the original is better. Aside from the bit with an icicle, and possibly the last 20 minutes, this is a real waste of space.
