I think I only ever watched this movie with my teenage finger on the fast forward button having taped it off Channel 4 after reading “contains nudity” in the Radio Times listing for it

Basically it’s a strange parade of various characters’ sexual fantasies and perversions, often very very funny: I always thought of this movie as mostly just soft porn, but it reminded me why I loved one of director Luis Bunuel’s other movies, The Phantom of Liberty, so much. He really nails those situations where you momentarily feel like you’re the only person who doesn’t understand what the heck is going on around you. And I love the ending, where you simply don’t know what was fantasy and what was real anymore.
