Sadly, much like the soundtrack, this is only really worth it if you’re a fan of Vanessa Paradis. If you are, you’re kind of in for a treat, from the moment she wiggles her butt (I promise, I don’t mean to be degrading lol, she’s just unavoidably sexy – do a quick Google and you’ll find far worse things said about her than I can muster) to “Concia Chachacha” (my favourite track on the soundtrack, which I’ve had for nearly 2 years before finally seeing the movie), she’s really allowed to shine, and screentime wise it’s her biggest role since 1999’s Girl on the Bridge (okay, it’s kind of her only role since 1999, I just wanted to highlight her long absence from the screen).
For anyone else, the story is just way too scattered and meaningless. It has its share of laughs and grossness (really, the movie is much gorier in places than I anticipated), but in the end it all kinda seems to me like a 90 minute (okay, actually only just over 80, which I guess I have to admit is a big plus point to me) excuse for a good trailer and soundtrack. I’d watch it again for Vanessa, but ultimately I’ll probably just clip those scenes out and watch them as standalone music videos, especially “Concia Chachacha” which is just so delightful I don’t think I’ll ever listen to just the song by itself ever again
